Group Petitions Delta State PPRO

The Civil Societies Community, Under the auspices of the Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum of Nigeria (RACFN), has expressed deep concerned over the recent viral video showing the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Edafe Bright driving, recording a video of himself, and failing to wear a seatbelt.

In an open letter, Attention: Force Disciplinary Committee and entitled “An Open Call For Disciplinary Action Against Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Reckless Conduct Driving”

According to RACFN Community , this act constitute a traffic offence, a reckless endangered of lives, and a violation of both Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) laws and Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) regulations.

RACFN lamented that, it is alarming a senior police officer entrusted with maintaining public order and serving as the Public Image of the Force would engage in such misconduct. His behaviour not only compromised his safety but also set a dangerous precedence for citizens and Junior Officers.

RACFN Community stated that, we respectfully call on your esteemed office to:

1) Direct the Force Disciplinary Committee to investigate this misconduct.

2) Impose necessary sanctions as provided by law and Police service rules.

3) Use this case to send a clear message that in Nigeria, (Nobody is above the law).

“By holding this officer accountable, the Nigeria Police Force will demonstrate it commitments to discipline, professionalism, and accountability. This will go a long way in restoring public trust in the Force”, it Stated.
