The National Coordinator Young Nigerian Rights Organization (YNRO), Comrade Victor Ojei has petitioned DPO A-Division Asaba and the Management Staff of the (BEDC), to the Inspector General of Police.
Comrade Victor Ojei allegedly that on 29th of May 2025, BEDC Staff trespassed into his private compound without lawful notice of disconnection as mandated under NERC Connection and Disconnection Procedures, 2007 (Regulation 5) and attempt to disconnect his power supply, despite the fact that neither himself nor his four tenants owed any outstanding electricity bill that month.
He said when challenged, they arrogantly insisted on disconnecting the source of his power supply and at not pont did he attack or threatened them, yeti they filmed him without consent to latter blackmail and intimidate him.
Ojei, A human rights activists, said, he was in his garden working with his cutlass, at the time where he was transplanting nursery fruits (Guava, Oranges, Tangerine and Soursop) alongside bitter leaves and Scent leaves. At no point he used the cutlass at anyone face to face as seen in the video and eye witnesses were there that fateful day.
YNRO Coordinator said, on 14th August 2025 he was suddenly invited by DPO of A-Division Asaba for an ‘interview’ the next day dispite this matter already being under investigation at Delta State Police Command Asaba, following his petition to the Commissioner of Police.
Activists said, on 15th August 2025, he arrived for the interview and waited for two hours for BEDC Officials, who never showed up. Later he received a call from the DPO claimed he tried to reach him but insisted and contacted his brother.
Comrade Ojei lamented that during their discussion, DPO displayed clear bias in favour of BEDC, and never condemned their illegal trespass, theft or violation of NERC regulations, yet focused solely on a video showing him holdind his garden cutlass and tool of his trade.
According to Victor Ojei, the same DPO has failed to act in far more serious cases already incidented at his station, such as a child abduction incident of 15th July 2026 which remains uninvestigated up until his Organization petitioned the syndicates to the Delta State Police Command, of which the Anti-Kidnapping Unit is investigating
